A Note From Jill Christopher

Jill-ChristopherWhat an exciting few months it has been here at RMHC! We are so excited to finally announce that we are building RMHC! Our Board of Directors and staff have been working hard to make our long-time dream of a new Ronald McDonald House a reality. This new house will allow us to address some areas of need with our two current locations and help even more families with critically-ill children for years to come. We are so grateful to the donors that have committed to keeping families close in the future. Continue reading

The Volunteers do “all the things”

Kelly (3)This is me. My job is to work with volunteers at RMHC. Actually my title is Community Outreach Coordinator, but that is really long. So let’s talk about what I do. I work with other people from the community (see how I tied that in there?) who want to help the families that stay at the Ronald McDonald house.
Want to know what THEY do? I would love to tell you. April is the month of  Volunteer Appreciation. We appreciate (love) our volunteers because they do ALL these things….#volunteerRMHC  Continue reading

October Stripes

circle-stripesAre you excited for October? Over at the Ronald McDonald House we certainly are. October means pumpkin spice lattes, the leaves turning warm colors and that we get to use one of our favorite hashtags (#forRMHC) nearly every day! A number of events and fundraisers are happening in October to support the Ronald McDonald House of the Red River Valley. We are thrilled and grateful for the generous people, businesses and organizations that have chosen to help support our mission of keeping families close.

Mrs. Belland’s 5th grade class in West Fargo took on the Ronald McDonald House this year.

They wanted to do a service learning project that would also help other people. They did research as a class, and then split themselves into groups. One group designed posters, another group was in charge of writing and giving the morning announcements, and the third group kept on researching information and keeping the others up to date with what they learned to update posters and announcements!

Girl Scouts are Great!

This amazing group of Girl Scouts Troop #242 have been working hard supporting the Ronald McDonald House with everything that they do! They made Christmas cards, and wrapped gifts for 35 families! They also collected household and food pantry items from our Wishlist AND have collected over 58,000 pop tabs to donate to the Fargo houses for recycling!

Girl Scouts promote giving girls a voice in where and how they want to help their community and serving others is part of what every member does. We think this group of young women are pretty great! Thank you to ALL of you for supporting our families that stay at the Ronald McDonald Houses!Girl Scouts Troop 242

December: a month of kindness

No Comments 1255 Views4

Christmas StoreThe month of December has been a month of kindness at the Ronald McDonald Houses of Fargo. There have been SO many volunteers who have come forward to help…..so many in fact, that many of them agreed to come in January and February! Our December calendar for Share a Meal was almost full by the first week of December!

Our Giving Trees from the local McDonalds and many other businesses who held toy drives, and people who asked for our wishlists have filled our house with toys and supplies and great things for our families. The families can come in and “shop” and have whatever they need or want for Christmas. What an amazing gift to see little eyes light up………….and big smiles on the faces of moms, dads and grandmas and grandpas. I wish you could have seen it.

Our continued support from our regular corporate volunteers is something we are so grateful for. These special groups of people come in every month, year after year and make meals. They know where everything is in the kitchen. They are a gift that keeps on giving. Thank you.

We had people hanging lights, decorating cookies and trees, buying us a snowblower and a vacuum, just because we needed one. Kids collecting pop tabs, and coloring ornaments for the giving tree, and having sales to raise money for our families.

Have I mentioned the cookies? So. Many. Cookies.

People called all the way up to Christmas Eve day to make sure that we had what we needed. This month has been a gift.

People are kind year round in this community, but December seems to bring it out in everyone. Thank you.

Looking forward to the new year and spending more time with all of you.
